Retail Solutions - 6-8th June 2006, NEC, Birmingham |
This year’s Retail Solutions proved to be an important milestone for industry awareness and recognition of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI: DSS). PCI: DSS compliance is becoming an increasingly critical topic as the number of security breaches hitting the headlines grows each week, leading to severe repercussions for brands, reputation and consumer confidence in card payments. Any business that accepts card payments must ensure compliance to this standard.
The Logic Group’s PCI: DSS compliance services are already playing an important role in turning the tide on security breaches and card fraud. Visitors at the group’s stand, E4, were able to access The Logic Group’s PCI compliance portal, helping them to work out how they stand today against the PCI requirements.
Logic Group Chairman Gareth Wokes underlined the importance of PCI DSS compliance in a keynote presentation given jointly with MasterCard’s Paul Baker. A copy of this presentation is available here.
The Logic Group also demonstrated an extended range of Chip & PIN solutions addressing varied market requirements. The group’s solution for kiosks and unattended environments is already being used to cut queues and improve throughput at National Express coach stations and on the London Underground, while visitors were able to see an exclusive preview of Smart-TPS, a new easy to integrate Chip & PIN service designed specifically for the mid-tier retailer. The group also discussed how its wireless solution has proved an ideal match to the needs of the hospitality sector, cutting fraud and making customer service more convenient.
Logic Group Marketing Director Mark McMurtrie gave a keynote presentation at the show on Habitat’s successful introduction of Gift Cards in a managed service environment. Delivered jointly with Kenton Mathys of First Data, the presentation underlined how Habitat was able to quickly roll-out their gift card programme and the enormous difference it has made to their costs and sales. A copy of this presentation is available here.
Last but not least, The Logic Group stand was the venue for a table football competition on the last day of the show. A large crowd gathered to watch the tournament, which saw teams from BT Expedite, AmbironTrustWave, Givex, PCMS, Wincor Nixdorf, ITIM, K3 and other Logic Group partners playing against one another. However, the winner was Torex Retail, who went away with one of the football tables as a prize. |

Partners can also benefit from an insight into our product roadmap, as well as listen to a number of expert external speakers talk about the changing market and trends. At the end of the day we will be presenting our Annual Partner Awards, recognising partners who have excelled over the past year. As well as the formal part of the day, following the awards there will be a chance to interact and relax with The Logic Group and your peers, with a barbeque, drinks and fun activities.

20% of all retail fraud is linked to credit card fraud, with criminal activity estimated by the British Retail Consortium to costs UK retailers £2.2 billion last year. The Second Logic Group PCI Seminar - 23rd February 2006 |
The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard is a worldwide benchmark for card security mandated by Visa and MasterCard for the protection of cardholder information. As merchants that haven’t taken steps to comply with the standard run the risk of substantial fines and being permanently barred from card acceptance programmes, the Logic Group has organised a series of seminars to raise awareness of the implications of this compulsory standard.
Representatives from qualified security assessors Ambiron Trustwave, One-Sec, Visa, MasterCard and the acquiring banks offered a range of perspectives on how to set about becoming PCI compliant.
To find out more about the group’s PCI services, click here to download a product sheet or FAQ document. Alternatively, send an email and we will contact you to discuss your requirements in more detail, or call us on 01252 776700. |
